Whetstone, Arizona
I currently have room for 2 riders.
I always am available to help horse owners.
I teach beginners and more advanced riders. Adult riders welcome and encouraged! Children age 7 up. Grooming, saddling and riding. All aspects of horse care. My lessons are trail obstacle-based, I teach ranch-related tasks that require horse and rider working together. Lessons last at least an hour and I ride with you. Depending on your skill we usually will take a little trail ride after the arena work. Lessons last at least an hour.
Rider weight limit is 160.
If you already ride you can come ride with me and have fun. Your horse or mine.
$55.00/lesson
Four lesson package/$200.00
For those who would rather not ride, but would like to enjoy time with horses I offer ground time. Grooming, leading, trail walks with horses. Bathing, clipping, or just spending time with a friendly happy horse!
$45.00/session I have adjacent trails for either riding or hand walking horses.
I have owned horses since I was 13. As a teenager I trail rode every day after school with friends. I also participated in a few endurance rides. From 1979-2000 my husband and I owned and operated a boarding stable called Pegasus Ranch in Pico Rivera, CA. During those years I trained showed and trailered horses. We also bred our own A.Q.H.A. horses.
My husband passed away and I moved to Arizona, for 7 years I managed the Tiara B Ranch in Sonoita and trained their A.Q.H.A. horses. In January of 2021 I bought my current place in Whetstone.
Horses are very therapeutic. You can either learn to ride, if you already ride but don't have a horse, you can ride mine, or you can groom and hand walk my horses. The money the horses earn goes for their feed, treats and shoes. The property is clean and private. And the views are amazing!
I have been a trainer and manager for a private ranch in Sonoita since 2014. In January 2021, after that ranch sold, I bought my own place in Whetstone, 20 miles East of Sonoita. I am now open and back in the business of teaching riding. New place!
This video was made when I was still in California. The mare was a horse I bred, raised and trained from birth. I also bred, raised and trained her mother Poppy. The Terminatrix (TX) was an A.Q.H.A mare shown in Halter, Western Pleasure and Trail classes. The stables was L-S Ranch in Whittier, CA. Pardon the ad, I didn't authorize the ad, You Tube can put ads on everything they want to without permission.
A lesson while I was training at a stables in California. The traffic noise is the 605 freeway in Whittier. And excuse the ad, it's not mine. I get zero from it. Sorry.

Gucci is a 17-year-old A.Q.H.A mare, she is the mom of my other 2 horses. She is a liver chestnut. Gucci loves being groomed and loved on. She is a quiet riding horse who loves people and attention. This photo is of her and Shane as a new born baby.
The Fox is an 8-year-old blue roan A.Q.H.A. gelding, he is Gucci's son. I have owned him since his birth. He has been shown in halter classes. He is a Western Pleasure horse who loves trail rides, and cookies and being groomed and petted. He also loves being bathed. He is very loving.
Shane is Gucci's son born May 2020, he is a full brother to The Fox. He is now working with a saddle on. I have had him since birth, he loves being ponied on trail rides, and playing with his mom and brother. He is becoming a great riding horse! Shane is a red roan A.Q.H.A. gelding
Roans are usually born a solid color. Blue roans are born brown. I was really excited to see his color at birth, a good chance he was going to be a blue roan, which is a very pretty color.
I halter break foals by 2 days old. They learn to be restrained, have their feet picked up and I like to set stuff on their backs such as a shirt, or stuffed toys. I also run clippers around them. This is repeated daily for their first year.
My foals are born with a tarp in their stall. To them, it's natural and the tarp becomes a security blanket. I also add other things for them to explore, poles, cones, anything safe. I remove it all at night
De sensitizing foals to things that usually frighten horses, at the baby stage is vital. And later on they will be much easier to saddle break and ride.
Arena playtime should include safe obstacles.
The Fox started going to shows at 4 months old. His mom went with him. Before the show he learned to trailer with mom, we went for short drives, he was loaded and un-loaded.
Shane was born a couple of weeks late. He was a tall baby.
Foals should learn to negotiate obstacles as small foals. It will assure them a better fun life as our companions
I take my foals on small fun trail rides with their mom. They LOVE it! It's a huge adventure when they are very small, and mom is their best teacher.
I trailer train my foals with mom, short fun rides. No stress. They ride around, come home and everything is fine. Don't wait to trailer them until they are being sold, or some other stressful situation.
Young horses need lots of time with a herd to learn social skills. They can't sit in stalls all day. On the other hand, just turning them out and never catching them is neglecting manners lessons
Their sire is a blue roan stallion. I was hoping for roan foals. Shane was born sorrel, but he began changing color to red roan as a weanling. He is a pretty silver red roan now. Shane loves his big brother The Fox!
Gucci was owned by my boss at Tiara B. She was part of his band of mares. She is reining bred and trained. She has had 4 foals. Her color is recessive, so she usually throws the sires color to her foals.
Melody was Gucci's filly, born 2017. She turned into a dark red roan
Gucci and Melody on trail.
Gucci raises really happy foals.
Gucci is a good role model for her kids.
